Climate Change

Loughs Agency, as an environmental organisation, is well-positioned to show leadership in tackling climate change. Find out how we're combatting it here.

Climate change is the single largest threat facing humanity. Its impacts are already being felt on the aquatic ecosystems that we protect, conserve, and develop. As an environmental organisation, Loughs Agency is well-positioned to show leadership in tackling the crisis.

A draft Climate Action Plan has been developed and is currently out for public consultation. This strategy outlines our plans to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. The headline commitment from this draft is defined as follows:

To reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030 and to be a net zero carbon and climate-resilient Agency by 2050.

These targets will help the organisation align seamlessly with strategic stakeholders and respective government departments. The plan embodies our commitment to keeping Loughs Agency at the forefront of climate adaptation and mitigation efforts, further enhancing our mission to protect the natural environment and the species within Foyle and Carlingford.
