Our Loughs Agency Education Team will be delivering several workshops at the Seagate Real World Science Conference. Year 10 pupils from a range of post primary schools across the local area will be attending the conference to receive hands-on experience of a whole host of STEM-related careers.
Loughs Agency workshops will include an introduction to the role of the Agency, followed by a river invertebrates identification and then fish dissection.
Pupils will learn how Loughs Agency Fishery Biologists analyse invertebrate samples to calculate work quality scores. The invertebrates such as snails, shrimp, hoglouse and boatmen will be identified using classification methods and a dichotomous key.
