Large-scale housing developments and the associated pressures on waste water and sewage treatment works are a potential source of water pollution. Loughs Agency uses the consultation process to check whether existing waste water treatment provision can accommodate the additional load associated with medium and large-scale housing developments. These include single dwellings, small housing developments (fewer than 25 units) and large housing developments (more than 25 units).
