Ambassador Programme – Water Warriors

Water Warriors

Loughs Agency is delighted to announce Water Warriors, a winter continuation of the ever-popular Foyle & Carlingford Ambassador Programmes aimed at secondary level school pupils.

Two major fun day-type events will be held incorporating both the Foyle and Carlingford catchment areas. The Foyle event will take place at the Millenium Forum on 22nd November, while the Carlingford equivalent will be held at Newry’s Omniplex Cinema on 23rd November.

Water Warriors is intended to be educational and topical, with a range of themes addressed including:

  • Climate change
  • Biodiversity
  • Sustainability
  • Protection & conservation
  • Science of rivers & loughs

The events will also be fully immersive experiences providing a gluttony of education, friendship and adventure for those participating. Celebrity scientist Mark the Science Guy will host both occasions, and he will also jump on stage for an exclusive performance tailored to the scenic surroundings of Foyle and Carlingford.

In addition, Mad Professor Fun Scientist will be present showing off his trademark educational and fun experiments. The Loughs Agency VR Experience will transport pupils to another world, with various games also available for all. Refreshments will be provided for all participants.

Pupils will also learn about the importance of conserving and protecting our stunning natural environment, including the benefits of keeping rivers and waterways free from pollutants. They will also discover the lifecycle of salmon, and find out about the range of aquatic life residing in our waterways.
