Water Watch cropped

WaterWatch is a Free easy to use mobile app which will allow you to report illegal fishing and water pollution within the Loughs Agency’s Foyle and Carlingford areas.

Available for android and iphones the app allows you to set the location, take photographs and report details of the incident (the app will include the GPS coordinates).

WaterWatch complements the 24 hour telephone response +44 (0) 28 71 342100. However, using the app to report an incident ensures investigating officers have photographs and an accurate location of where the incident is occurring.

How do I report an incident?

Firstly download and install the app to your phone. Once installed, if you notice someone fishing illegally or you spot pollution in a waterway, follow these simple steps:

  • open the app
  • choose to report Illegal Fishing or Water Pollution
  • set the location of the incident
  • take photos e.g. water pollution: discharge point, a few meters downstream and upstream of the discharge point, dead fish etc. (Please note caution should be taken when photographing an incident. If taking photos, you do so at your own risk.)
  • Add any details that will help with the investigation like the vehicle registration, number of offenders etc.
  • You can remain anonymous or you can add your Name, Phone No. and Email. You will then receive an email with an incident number should you wish to follow up the report.
  • Submit

Once the report is submitted, staff receive an instant notification, allowing them to investigate the incident. By reporting incidents you can do your bit in protecting the nation’s fish stocks and habitat for future generations.
