Seskinore Farmer fined for causing river pollution incident

At a sitting of Omagh Magistrates Court on 11th August, Mr Gareth Smith from Corkhill Road, Seskinore was fined for causing deleterious matter to enter the Eskra, a tributary of the Seskinore River.

Loughs Agency Fishery Officers investigated the incident on 16th January 2017 at Ballyhushy Bridge after a report was received from a member of the public.  Upon inspection the slurry was followed upstream to the Eskra where it was traced back to a nearby farm.

District Judge McGinn fined the defendant the sum of £500 plus an offender levy of £15, legal costs of £273 and was given 20 weeks within which to pay.
