The job of the Loughs Agency is to manage the sea loughs and their catchments. The fishery part of this work is complicated and challenging. Informed decisions have to be made to make sure that fishermen can take a fair harvest and that enough fish survive to replenish the stock. These decisions are taken in the knowledge that in other parts of the world many fish species, including Atlantic salmon, are becoming endangered. And, of course, the decisions and the regulations have to be enforced.
