Press release from 34th NASCO Annual Meeting held in June 2017

Delegates from countries across the North Atlantic and beyond met in Varberg, Sweden in June 2017 with one goal: to ensure the future of North Atlantic salmon. Despite strict conservation and management over the years, many stocks of this iconic species are in real danger, with threats often difficult to identify and address. NASCO and its members considered actions taken on numerous fronts aimed at enhancing the conservation and rational management of Atlantic salmon. New initiatives were also advanced.

Foyle Canoe Trail

Foyle to the Atlantic Ocean, the Foyle Canoe Trail dips in and out of both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. From Lifford, this unique trail runs through rural countryside, the historic city of Derry~Londonderry, along Lough Foyle’s varied coastline to the bustling seaside town of Moville. Paddlers will enjoy a mix of water conditions, from flat water to sea lough and - since the trail is tidal - the river section can even be paddled upstream! Updated 2015.
