This simple, easy to use app allows you to record and send details of illegal fishing or water pollution within Loughs Agency areas.  It will include the GPS location, along with photos (where appropriate) so Fishery Officers can respond without delay. By reporting incidents you can do your bit in protecting the nation’s fish stocks and habitat for future generations.

Additional details can be supplied, such as the vehicle registration, a landmark and river/lake name or indeed anything that will help with the investigation. You can set the location of the incident on the map, so investigating staff will have pin point accuracy of where the incident is taking place.  You can remain anonymous or add your name, phone number and email. You will then receive an email with an incident number should you wish to follow up the report.  Please note caution should be taken when photographing an incident. If taking photos, you do so at your own risk.

Alternatively, to report illegal fishing activity or pollution, please contact Loughs Agency using our 24-hour response line – Tel: +44 (0) 28 71 342100.  We would be grateful for detailed information about the location, what you saw and when you saw it. Please leave your contact telephone number.  During normal office hours, your call will be answered by Loughs Agency staff. Outside office hours, it will be dealt with through our automated telephone system. When you are connected to the automatic system, you will be advised to press 1 for emergencies that require immediate attention. You will then be transferred to the duty Inspector.  For non-emergencies, you will asked to press 2 to leave a message which will be picked up the next working day.

Lough Agency staff use modern environmental techniques to investigate and monitor actual and potential sources of water pollution. These include:

  • poor quality discharges
  • illegal dumping,
  • developments in or close to watercourses
  • fish kills.

The Agency enforces the Fisheries Acts’ pollution control provisions on both sides of the border to ensure that fish populations and their habitats are protected. This work is often carried out with government agencies and local authorities.
