Managed Access at the Gribben Quay

The Gribben quay has been restored and a slipway built and there is now managed access to the site, permitting appropriate usage of the river. The aspiration is that the river realises its potential for the sustainable development of nature based tourism, including angling and bird watching. The River Foyle was once a valuable commercial salmon fishery. A relic of those times is the Gribben, a stone quay where fish were once landed and an ice house that held stores of ice for packing fish, in readiness for transport to distant markets.
