Education & Outreach

During the year Riverwatch welcomes schools and groups (booking essential) for visits to Riverwatch and outreach activities such as river clean ups, fishing experiences and other ecological explorations! All our education programmes our tailored to the needs of your group.

All group bookings will be guided by a member of our education team to ensure participants have an educational but fun experience. And the best part? All our education and outreach programmes are free!

@ Riverwatch Aquarium and Visitor Centre

The duration of a visit in the centre can vary from 30 mins to 2 hours depending on the age, ability and interests of the pupils. Visits can be extended by incorporating one of our workshops:

  • Marine Discovery
  • Water Beasts
  • Biodegrading challenge
  • Fish Dissection
  • Riverwatching (bird watching activity – partly outdoors)
  • Tour of the working building
  • Map Work

Riverwatch Outreach Programmes*

Riverwatch offers a wide range of educational programmes that can be delivered at school or the great outdoors. These include:

  • Habitat/River study* – available all year round
  • Trout in the Classroom* – between January and March
  • Adopt A Stream* – available all year round
  • Marine Project* – available April to June
  • Science Safari* – river kayaking trip – all year round (11+ age limit)
  • Angling Experiences – available during fishing season
  • River Clean Ups – available all year round
  • Bespoke programmes based on your needs
  • Workshops (as listed above) – all year round
