Rules for a Professional Spey casting competition

 
1. Competition open to professional casters. Meaning casting instructor, competes or belongs to a casting team or designer of lines or rods.
2. Rods no greater than 18 foot
3. Reel to be normal revolving spool type.
4. Casting line or head (weight forward profile) may be of any length, but not exceed an overall diameter of 2.5mm at any point. Must be a floating Line
5. Leader to be min 6ft, max 12 to be of sufficient strength to turn over a wool tag.
6. Backing line of any suitable material
7. Time for casting shall be 1 min practice (no measurement) 3 mins competition casting
8. The longest cast achieved within the 3 mins allocated will be scored
9. Angle change of up to 30%
10. Anchor point not to be any further than 2-rod lengths away from the caster. Judges will decide if there is a non-cast and inform the caster. No time allowance given for wrong placement or if a tangle or knot occurs.
11. Casts measured from the casters lead foot to the wool tag
12. Competition will be staged over 2 days. Day 1 10.00am to 4.00pm & day 2 10.00am to 1.00pm qualifying heats. Day 2 2.00pm top 6 casters final, 1min practice 3min competition longest cast measured, in the event of a tie, there will be a cast off.
13. Judges decision is final.


 
5# trout accuracy casting competition Amateur
 
1. Open to anyone who is not an instructor or competes or belongs to a casting team
2. Rod to be a 9 foot 5# (supplied)
3. Line to be floating WF 5 # (supplied)
4. Leader to be min 7ft max 9ft of sufficient strength to turn over a wool tag.
5. Casting to be continuous to targets in sequence specified by judge
6. Time to be 1min practice 3min competition
7. The amounts of targets (hoops) hit will be scored.
8. Highest score wins
9. Competition will be staged over 2 days with the top 3 scoring 1st 2nd and 3rd
10. Judges decision will be final.
