Update:  Due to the flight restrictions in place several fly tyers travelling in for the fair will not be able to make it.  Marvin Nolte and Stack Scoville from the USA will not be attending.  Riny Sluter and Johan Putt are experiencing serious difficulties in making alternative travel arrangements.  Paul Harkin, Brian Burnett, Sasha Putz, Chris Reed and Peter Dunne are also experiencing travel disruptions but should the restrictions be lifted it is hoped they may still make it over.   The NAT's are reviewing the situation over english controlled air space at 1am Saturday 17th April.

Fly tyers confirmed are:  Peter Kealy, Roy Christie, Andrew McGall, George Baron, Ryan Houston, Frank Moors, David Wilkinstoff-Dodds, Declan Tuffy, Gary Bell, Robert McHaffie, Andrew Baird and Frankie McPhilips will be in attendance during the weekend.

There are 23 Fly Tyers attending this years Angling Fair in Newtownstewart.  Find below information on some of the experts travelling from across the globe to attend.

Peter Dunne- From Durrow, County Laois is a 7 times world champion fly dresser he has made the easy peasy Klinkhammer his forte. He has written for Trout and Salmon, Irish Angler and Fly-fishing and Fly-Tying magazines Peter will be tying river and lake patterns for 2 days.

Chris Reed- From Cheshire will be tying mostly tube flies for Salmon.  He is an accomplished Salmon Angler.  This is his second visit to the Loughs Agency Show.

Riny Sluiter- Is from Kampen in the Netherlands.  His home water is the river Ijssel.  He has been tying flies for many years now and his repertoire includes dry flies, nymphs, streamers, saltwater flies and tube-flies.  He also designs his own vices and is a regular tier at fairs.  At home Riny holds workshops for fly-fishing clubs and shops.

Peter Kealey- Will be tying some Fishing Shrimp Flies and perhaps a Templedog style tube over the two days mostly on single hooks and tubes.  He will also have “limited” supplies of wax with him as well.

Frank Moors- Began fishing at the age of 10 and fly fished from the age of 15. He began tying his own flies at 16 because he lost so many expensive shop bought ones. He fished for coarse fish in his early angling days; only fly fishing to fill in the close season. Fly fishing took over in the 1970s and is now his first love, although he does still enjoy going coarse fishing after the Roach and more recently, Barbell.  He now concentrates most of his fly-fishing efforts on Salmon, Sea-trout and Grayling preferring to fish for “wild fish” rather than fish which are artificially stocked.  His fly tying reflects his interest in Salmon and Sea Trout and he has devised an anti-tangle rig for Secret Weapon type flies and has also created several new patterns for Salmon and Sea-Trout, notably the Jungle cock elver, the recently published Nitro shrimp also known as “The Moor’s Murderer” and the Blue Alexandra.

Brian Burnett- From Banff Scotland on his 3rd trip to the Loughs Agency Angling Fair is an accomplished Classic Salmon Fly Dresser.  Ask him about his wax box and fifty pence pieces!!!

Declan Tuffy- From Athenry, County Galway has been tying flies for the past 18 years or so. He was fortunate to have grown up beside a salmon river (the Moy in Ballina) and live near another, the Corrib River in Galway. Unlike most tiers, his first efforts were salmon flies. They still remain his passion to this day. He particularly likes dressing old classic salmon flies. He is a previous winner of The Irish Championship.

Roy Christie- Grew up in Northern Ireland alongside a trout stream; started fishing and tying flies when he was at primary school. His fly patterns are designed around the impression he believes the trout and grayling see when feeding on natural insects and these have been widely published in Europe, US and Australia. He have demonstrated his techniques for tying reversed parachute; upside down; sideways and back to front flies at many shows across Europe and the US over the past few years and am looking forward to seeing many old and new friends at the show.

Stack Scoville’s-  Experience in fly tying began in college in the 1970’s. He began tying in order to have the necessary flies to fish during summer vacations in the Rocky Mountain West of the United States. Having limited access to fly shops on the western slopes of the Rockies, and very limited funds, tying my fishing flies seemed like a practical venture. One day while visiting one of our local fly shops, I saw Poul Jorgensen’s book on tying salmon flies. Being a rather avid “bibliophile”, I purchased the book. That was the true birth of a genuine passion. I knew from that point on that traditional salmon fly tying was what I wanted to pursue.
Joe McDonald- From Omagh has been tying flies commercially now for well over 55 years. He is highly regarded in his native land and was one of the contributors to the highly successful book by Robert Gillespie and Chris Mann "Shrimp and Spey Flies for Salmon". Joe will be promoting his latest patterns including the highly successful “Grilse Fly”

Andrew McGall- From Belfast has penned a number of articles for Trout and Salmon magazine in the past year on Shrimp Patterns his Dusky Curry’s Red Shrimp has proved quite popular with readers and fish alike. Andrew’s style of flies suffers from the Ali G experience with loads of “Bling” tied on to them. This is Andrew’s first visit to the show and he is definitely one to watch.

Ryan Houston- Now resident in Lisnaskea, County Fermanagh is the typical country vet and every animal he encounters is viewed with a fly-tying potential. Ryan has successfully participated in most of the fly tying competitions and is the current Fly-fishing and Fly-tying masters’ winner. Ryan will be putting lots of materials on big hooks. This will be Ryan’s first appearance on the benches.

George Barron- From Wales was one of the members of the highly successful Llanilar Angling team. George was responsible for the running and organisation of the Ty-nant Classic. George will be showing that you don’t have to have the latest genetic capes to tie fish catching flies. His patterns are best described as traditional with his own innovative twist. This will be George’s first appearance at the Lough’s Agency Show
