The Loughs Agency has secured €4m of funding from the European Union INTERREG IVA programme.
Between 2011 and 2015, the Agency will implement the Marine Tourism and Angling Development project across the Foyle and Carlingford regions. Project partners include the Londonderry Port & Harbour Commissioners, Derry City Council, Donegal County Council, Louth County Council, Limavady Borough Council and Newry and Mourne District Council.

General aims:
The overall aim of this Interreg programme is to develop and promote marine tourism, water based leisure activity, angling tourism and recreational angling in the Foyle and Carlingford areas.
The Agency will achieve this by implementing a range of sub-projects under the following four themes:
1) Access Infrastructure
2) Angling
3) Development/Skills Training
4) Marketing & Communications

By January 2012, the Loughs Agency had received approval from the Special European Union Programmes Body (SEUPB) for projects totalling €2,923,807.
